Front Desk Receptionist Interview Questions and Answers Part 4

16. Can you name some of our competitors?

Answer:

The interviewer would not ask you just about the competitors' names, as he is already aware of them.

However, he wants to understand, how much did you try to find out about the company and its business as your answer again reflects your preparation.

Carry out a proper research about the company/hotel, its major competitors and their business to handle this questions effectively.

17. Why do you think people choose our hotel over others?

Answer:

Again, a test of your preparation. With this question, the interviewer would like to know if you are aware of the services provided by their hotel.

With so many travel and tourism websites around, it is not difficult to find out about the pros and cons of any hotel in the world. Make sure that you do read some reviews and have some a list of some points ready to answer this question. Focus on things that set them apart from the competition.

18. What is your expected salary?

Answer:

As a fresh graduate, you don't really have much bargaining power. If the company is big, they would have the fixed standard salary for each level and you can just say that you're happy to accept the salary as per the company standards.

However, for a little smaller employers who do negotiate, you should have an idea about the salaries prevailing in the market. Also, you should know the range that this particular employer offers. Based on these researches, you can put across your expected salary.

As an experienced professional, you can look around, see the range of salary the industry and that particular employer offers for your kind of experience. You can ask for an amount accordingly. However, avoid being too precise or too generic. Offer a narrow range which you are glad to accept.
