SWOT stands for Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats. It is a technique for analyzing and assessing the organization for these things. It helps in decision making when there is a change or improvement required in the organization.

11. What do you know about BCG Matrix?

BCG matrix stand for Boston Consulting Group matrix.

It helps to analyze various business processes and products from a company. It plays a significant role in:

i.) Portfolio analysis

ii.) Strategic management

iii.) Product management

iv.) Brand marketing.

12. What do you know about Pugh Matrix?

Pugh matrix is also referred to as Problem/ Design matrix. It helps in deciding the most optimal and alternate solution and is now a part of Six Sigma technique.

13. Tell us something about Pareto Analysis.

Pareto Analysis, also called as 80/20 rule is actually a decision-making technique. It aims at controlling the quality and resolving the defects. It believes that, 80 % defects arise in the system due to 20 % causes.

14. What does SWEBOK stand for?

SWEBOK: Software Engineering Body of Knowledge.


15. Suppose that you have tough stakeholders in a project. How will you deal with them?

With this question, the interviewer is trying to see your ability to handle a particular stakeholder. To answer this question you can look at your relevant past experience where you have a handled a difficult stakeholder.

To answer this question you can say that: "Working with a difficult stakeholder is not easy but it is not impossible. As an analyst it is very important for me to understand the individual, his /her viewpoints so that I am able to build an effective relationship with the person.

I always prefer to talk with facts and figures & in a way that is most convenient to the stakeholder. I ensure that I work with utmost ethics to build trust among the stakeholder which helps me to build a good work rapport with him/her.Trust and logic is usually the key here. "

16.) What are the different types of diagrams that the Business Analyst is expected to know?

Some of the diagrams that Business Analysts are expected to know are:

i.) Activity diagrams: This diagram shows the work done by the different department of the organization. It shows the systems activities. It shows the flow of one activity to another from one department to another.

ii.) Data Flow diagrams: It is a graphical representation of data and shows how the data is shared in the organization. It shows how data comes in and goes out of the system.

iii.) Use Case diagrams: This is the most used diagram and is also known as a behavioral diagram. It is used to describe a group of actions that the system performs with one or more user.

iv.) Collaboration diagram: It resembles a flow chart and is also known as communication diagram. This diagram is used to show how the object communicates to achieve the result. It is an interaction diagram that shows the relationship and interaction between software objects.

v.) Sequence diagram: As the name suggests, this diagram shows the sequence in which the message is passed from one object to another.

vi.) Entity relationship diagram: This is a data modeling technique which shows the relationship between the entities.

vii.) Class diagram: The class diagram is a type of static structure diagram that shows the structure of a system by showing the system's classes, technique of operations, attributes and the relationships among objects.
